BOVtitle
Welcome to the first post, and the first episode, of Beer-O-Vision!

What is Beer-O-Vision? It is a monthly video magazine, available over the internet, which covers issues related to craft brewing and the homebrewing scene in Western New York, and beyond. In each month’s episode, you can expect some brewing news and reviews, event coverage, beer advocacy, brewery tours, general tomfoolery, road trips to beer festivals, homebrewing info, food & beer pairing, discussion of industry history & current events, sock-puppets tasting beer, and video-cast-type discussions in the WNYM studios over beers, about beers- and other things. We think it’s going to be informational… entertaining… and… well… beery.

In our first episode, we visit the Mr. Goodbar Goodbeer club- a monthly tasting event, and so far at least, the sort of “home” of the show. So this episode only has one segment, really, and it is an introduction to the Goodbeer club. Like you’ll see in the the video, the atmosphere there really is fantastic, the beers are great, the food is tasty- you really ought to consider coming on down and being a part of the experience, and the show, too! We’re hoping to be a staple feature of the event, adding to the giveaways, getting feedback from people there on that night’s selections, maybe running some fun stuff like trivia games or… who knows? We’ll see how it all shakes out.

As of this post, the second episode is in production. We’re taking the Goodbeer Club as the setting, and there we talk to Bobby about the night’s selection of beers, I discuss one of my favorite beers (which was in the lineup,) and we also chat with the owner of Cole’s, Mike Shatzel, about a beer-themed trip to Belgium and The Netherlands that he is planning with the guys from Pizza Plant, in September.

We’ll also be taking you to Niagara Traditions Homebrew shop for the AHA Big Brew Day event, and we’ll chat with brewers there, as well as owner Paul Dyster about homebrewing. This segment will serve as the introduction to our regular homebrewing segment, “In The Garage,” where we’ll show homebrewers in action, gathering tips and advice, and also make you drool with jealousy over their setups and home bars, you bet!

We have plans for other regular segments which we’ll be unveiling over the next few episodes as well, until we’re fully flushed out as as 26 min show (advertising, of course, will have to take up some 4 min per 30 min episode- realities being what they are and all.) When it’s all cobbled together, it will also be streamable as segments. Still, the overall effect will be that of a t.v. show, more or less.

So check out the first “issue,” and be sure to check back in for new installments–and other musings–on the homepage/blog!
